Congratulations to Eleven Graduates of the Maine State Fire Academy 2017

On May 21, 2017 the Maine Fire Service Institute, a program of Southern Maine Community College, was pleased to congratulate 11 Fire Fighters who completed the Maine State Fire Academy. The Academy is a intensive, rigorous training program which is held to NFPA Fire Fighter Training Standards. MFSI Program Manager Frank Hammond, Jr. heads up the Academy and collaborates with regional and statewide fire departments for training apparatus and training facilities. MFSI Instructors provide hands on training for over 11 months, including three 3-day in-service weekends, and finish training Maine’s top fire fighters with a 10 day residential Academy. Students also complete a Skills End Test and take a written exam to complete their educational requirements. These Fire Fighters are awarded a certificate recognizing their accomplishments, educational credits from Southern Maine Community College, and that certificate is accredited with  the National Board on Fire Service Professional Qualifications.
