MFT&E Operations Division
The Operations Division Office of MFT&E is located in Bangor, on the campus of Eastern Maine Community College, in Maine Hall. This office serves as the operations center for both Region 1 and Region 2. Operations Division personnel are directly responsible for providing all training programs and technical services. The division office is located in Bangor and the support staff there processes all training requests, assigns instructors to courses, and processes course close-out paperwork. Program support personnel assigned to the division include Cheryl Nason, senior office assistant and Cheryl Fox-Briggs, senior staff assistant. The Operations Division covers the state of Maine, all 16 counties. The counties are divided into two operating regions, numbered 1 and 2. Region 1 is covered by Frank Hammond and includes the counties of Aroostook, Kennebec, Penobscot, Piscataquis, Somerset, and Washington. As training program manager for Region 1, Frank is responsible for organizing and delivering firefighter training programs. Frank is directly responsible for supervising and coordinating delivery of local level training and state academies. He works directly with the district supervisors: Darrell Cyr, Roy Woods, Ken Clark, and Kevin Curry. The supervisors act as coaches, mentors, and evaluators for our cadre of Adjunct Fire Instructors. Darrell Cyr covers the Highlands District (Penobscot and Piscataquis); Roy Woods, the Crown District (Aroostook); Ken Clark, the Sunrise District (Washington); and Kevin Curry, the Capital District (Kennebec and Somerset). Region 2 is covered by Walter Morris and includes the counties of Androscoggin, Cumberland, Franklin, Knox, Lincoln, Oxford, Sagadahoc, Waldo, and York. As training program manager for Region 2, Walter is responsible for organizing and delivering firefighter training programs. He is directly responsible for supervising and coordinating delivery of local level training and state academies working directly with the district supervisors: Don Flanagan, Rodney Carpenter, Phil Meunier, and Chris Farley. Don Flanagan covers the Mountain District (Androscoggin, Franklin, and Oxford); Rod Carpenter covers the Southern District (Cumberland and York); Phil Meunier covers the Coastal District (Sagadahoc, Lincoln, Knox, and Waldo); and Chris Farley covers the Acadia-Islands District (Hancock County and the islands of the midcoast). Ken Brennan is also assigned to the Operations Division with responsibility for supervising the delivery of hazardous materials and WMD training.
